Ware County Sheriff

my work

I am experienced, trained and ready to serve all citizens of Ware County. I have worked in the law enforcement field since I was 19 years old and I am ready to serve you.

My career began under Sheriff H. E. Bond in 1983 as a dispatcher. I was promoted to Deputy Sheriff and assigned patrol duties in March, 1985. I graduated from the Coastal Georgia Police Academy February 14, 1986. In March 1986 I began my career with the Waycross Police Department as a patrol officer & P.S.O.(public safety officer). I was assigned to the S.W.A.T team in 1988, where I served in every position up to SWAT Team Commander. As a patrolman I served as a Field Training Officer until being promoted to Sergeant in 1997. I worked as a Uniform Patrol Watch Commander until being promoted to Lieutenant in 2001 when I was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division to supervise the detectives in general investigations and the drug team. I later transferred to Uniform Patrol where I supervised all uniform patrol officers, K-9 teams, traffic team, bicycle unit, motorcycle officers, F.T.Os, and watch commanders. In 2006 I was promoted to Captain and ran the Field Operations section of the department. I was again promoted to Major in 2012 where I served as Assistant Chief until my retirement March 1, 2020.

I completed the 212th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Va. I also completed Columbus State University’s Georgia Professional Management Program and Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. I have over 4200 hours of Georgia P.O.S.T. Council training and hold an intermediate certification as well as a general instructor certification and a firearms instructor certification.
